Pape Matar Sarr’s Senegal are getting set for their first match in the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Having topped Group B with one win and two draws from their three games so far, they’ll now face Cape Verde in the last 16 in Bafoussam on Tuesday (4pm UK).
Midfielder Pape, who is on loan at Metz after joining us from the French side last year, was in the squad for two of his nation’s three group stage games, but is yet to feature at the tournament.
Having missed the opening 1-0 win over Zimbabwe, he was an unused substitute in goalless draws against Guinea and Senegal.
Still only 19 years of age, Pape made his senior Senegal debut last March and has earned four caps to date.
