Club hosts Jobs Fair to drive employment opportunities following pandemic
• Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the catalyst for regeneration in Tottenham and over 3,500 jobs for local people have already been created as a result
• Event to be held in partnership between Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and the Department of Work & Pensions on Friday 25 February
• Over 50 employers from both the public and private sector to showcase live vacancies to jobseekers at a wide range of levels
Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, the Club’s charitable body, has supported this work through the delivery of weekly drop-in sessions, vocational courses, interview skills training and employability programmes targeted at groups including over 50s and those with special educational needs and disabilities.
Amongst those to have benefited from this work includes Aaron Plummer, a local young person with cerebral palsy who now works within the Club’s catering team at the stadium on event days.
Aaron said: “Every time I handed my CV into places, they wouldn’t even contact me or would just say ‘no’ because they saw my learning disability before they saw me. When I attended one of the Foundation’s open days for jobs, it was so easy. A week later, I was told I had a job. All these years of wanting a job, I was like ‘YES!!!’”
With the country emerging from the pandemic, the Jobs Fair at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, held in partnership between the Foundation and the Department for Work and Pensions, will see over 50 employers from both the private and public sector showcase live vacancies to jobseekers.
Employers include Google, HSBC, JD Sports, IKEA, the Police and all of the stadium’s event day contractors, with roles ranging from entry level through to graduate and management positions, traineeships and apprenticeships.
The event is open to anyone over the age of 18 with no pre-registration required.
Sarah Ebanja, Chief Executive, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, said: “We look forward to opening our doors to people looking for what could be a life-changing opportunity.
“Over the years, we have seen so many people visit one of our events and leave with a job at the end of it, including many who were close to giving up hope on their dream career.
“With a world-class stadium in the heart of the community, and links to so many employers across a range of industries, Tottenham Hotspur has a huge role to play in providing a way back into work for those looking for a fresh start following the pandemic.”
