What is the team news?

Defender Cristian Romero is back in training after his World Cup success with Argentina and is available for selection this weekend.

However, midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur and forward Richarlison will both miss out with the injuries they sustained at the tournament while on duty for Uruguay and Brazil respectively.

Lucas Moura also missed the Boxing Day draw at Brentford and it remains to be seen whether he’ll be available on Sunday.

For Aston Villa, Cristian’s fellow Argentine World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is back in contention, although midfielder Jacob Ramsey and defender Diego Carlos remain out.

Tributes and presentations

Ahead of kick-off, we shall pay our respects to two of the game’s great players who have recently passed away. Maurice Norman was the defensive rock of our historic Double-winning side, making 411 appearances for us between 1955 and 1965, while the iconic Pele was a three-time World Cup winner with Brazil and widely known as the greatest to have ever played the game.

We’ll be celebrating the lives of both players with a minute’s applause ahead of kick-off, while the teams will also wear black armbands during the game as a mark of respect.

Furthermore, ahead of the match, Cristian Romero will be presented with a gift from the Club in recognition of his recent World Cup success with Argentina, with his fellow countryman and 1978 World Cup winner Ossie Ardiles on hand to make the presentation.

What colours will the teams be playing in?

We’ll be wearing our 2022/23 home kit as usual – Lilywhite shirts, navy blue shorts and white socks – while our goalkeeper will play in all yellow.

Villa will play in their familiar claret and blue shirts, white shorts and blue socks. Their keeper is set to wear orange.

Who is the referee?

The referee for Sunday’s match will be John Brooks.

Constantine Hatzidakis and Neil Davies will be his assistants, with Anthony Taylor in place as the fourth official.

In charge of VAR is Jarred Gillett, along with assistant Steven Meredith.

What will the weather conditions be like?

It’s set to be cloudy with a moderate breeze in north London on Sunday afternoon. Temperatures should reach 12 degrees.
