Players take part in coaching session with local charity in Louisville – Spurs Women USA Tour

Mon 15 August 2022, 16:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Angharad James, Ramona Petzelberger and Gracie Pearse took part in a footballing masterclass with local children in Louisville, Kentucky, today (Monday 15 August) as part of Spurs Women’s USA tour.

The players joined 30 youngsters from the LouCity & Racing Foundation - the charitable arm of local clubs Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville FC.

Founded in 2021, the Foundation was established to improve its local community’s health and wellness through football. The charity fundraises to develop initiatives and deliver footballing equipment, camps, clinics, youth academy scholarships and other means of removing barriers to participation and provide access to the beautiful game.

This afternoon, the attendees took part in a special training session hosted by the Club’s Global Football Development coaches where, alongside our players, Club Ambassador Ledley King and Spurs Women legend Jenna Schillaci, they took on a series of footballing drills as well as skill challenges. After the sessions the players posed for photographs and signed autographs for the children.

Our expert coaches deliver world-class technical programmes, educational talks, workshops, and exercises classes around the world with the aim to keep children physically active and promote a positive mental wellbeing.

Our coaches help showcase the authentic training methods developed within the Club’s Academy, helping aspiring youngsters reach their full potential.

Speaking after the session, Angharad said: “It was great to take part in this session today with participants from LouCity & Racing Foundation. The Foundation does an excellent job in the local community helping to improve the lives of young people through the power of football. Hopefully, we have given the participants today an experience they will remember for a long time and inspire them to continue with their good work. It was great to see so many young girls in attendance today taking part in the session and we look forward to meeting more fans throughout the week.”

George Davis, Program Director at LouCity & Racing Foundation, said: “Today was an amazing experience for our community and the Foundation to work with Tottenham Hotspur Women’s players, Club Ambassador and Global Football Development team. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone at the Club for their commitment to growing the game for all.”

One participant commented: “Being able to be a part of this session today with four Tottenham Hotspur Women players was a fantastic opportunity. We had a lot of fun, and the coaches taught us some great new skills which I can’t wait to do in our football sessions.”
