Eric Dier gave a typically honest assessment of our performance after we came away from Nottingham Forest with a 2-0 win in the Premier League on Sunday.

Backed by a vibrant home crowd, Forest recovered from Harry Kane’s early strike to put us under sustained pressure in the first half. However, our goal stayed intact thanks to another resolute defensive display, and we improved in the second half, created chances and secured the points thanks to a moment of magic from Richarlison, who won the ball and then delivered a cross with the outside of his right foot for Harry to head home.

Speaking to SPURSPLAY pitchside at The City Ground, Eric reflected: “It was a tough game against good opposition, fantastic atmosphere, very enjoyable to play in, our fans were amazing as well.

“We’re very happy to get the three points but we’re disappointed with our performance because I think we can play a lot better, especially in the first half, we can play better in possession, back to front, every one of us, but we defended well as a team, we dug in when we had to, and we know we can create chances and score.

“It was difficult, they were well organised, but we have to be able to overcome these situations and play better with the ball. There are still positives, the way we managed to stick together, to defend well under pressure, defend set pieces, scored the goals, could have scored a few more as well. We know if we can defend well and keep clean sheets, we’ll always create chances and always score.”
