Antonio’s verdict on Wolves: “It was important to suffer together as a team”

Antonio Conte relished the challenge of overcoming Wolves in a hard-earned 1-0 win in the Premier League on Saturday.
Wolves impressed in the first half of the early kick-off at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and created a number of half-chances, although the only serious save was Jose Sa’s tip over from Harry Kane’s looping header.
The second half was a different story as we got on top and we’d hit the woodwork twice - Harry again, and Heung-Min Son - before Harry nodded home Ivan Perisic’s flick on from Sonny’s corner for the only goal of the game on 63 minutes.
It was another notable goal for the striker, his 250th in a Spurs shirt, only the second player to reach that milestone alongside Jimmy Greaves, whose record 266 draws ever closer. Harry also moved into fourth in the Premier League’s all-time goalscoring list on 185, and he has now scored more goals for one club in the Premier League than anyone else, overtaking Sergio Aguero’s 184 for City.
In every team, it’s important to have good resilience during the game, you never know what will happen
Speaking to SPURSPLAY, Antonio said: “It was a good game, because when you win easily, it’s difficult to make a real judgement. In this way, you can analyse.
“I also said to the players that the first half was important to suffer together as a team, don’t concede chances, in the first half, I don’t remember a big save from Hugo. In the second half, we fixed some tactical situations, and we pushed a lot with the pressure to defend with a higher line, created chances to score and in the end, I have to be pleased.
“In every team, it’s important to have good resilience during the game, you never know what will happen. There are different parts in the game. At the moment you are going to suffer, you need to suffer in the right way, as a team. We did this together. Then, we overcame the first half, in the second half we played really good football, with great intensity. I’m sure our fans enjoyed the second half.
“For sure, when you play against a team like Wolverhampton, with the players of their level, don’t forget in the last week they signed Guedes from Valencia, Nunes from Sporting, I think that we have to be pleased. I have to see the whole game. I know in the first half, we struggled, but in the end in the second half we deserved to win the game.”
