English football's new dawn kicked-off in August, 1992 as the FA Premier League replaced Barclays League Division One, ending a structure of Division One-Four that had been in place since 1958. Thirty years on, the Premier League is amongst the most watched and most valuable sporting leagues in the world.
In this new series, 1 from 30, we'll feature a match from 30 years of the Premier League that corresponds with our next fixture - so, we're off to Stamford Bridge and a match to remember in 2018.
Chelsea 1-3 Spurs | 01.04.2018
The day everything finally came together at the Bridge. We travelled to SW6 sitting fourth in the Premier League, five points ahead of Chelsea with eight matches remaining, Champions League qualification very much on the line.
Alvaro Morata headed Chelsea in front on the half-hour mark but everything changed seconds before half-time. Dele Alli did well to keep Eric Dier's deep cross alive, we won the ball back, Ben Davies squared for Christian Eriksen and the Dane pinged a dipper from 30 yards that sailed home just under the crossbar, Willy Caballero motionless in the Chelsea goal.
We controlled it from there and took the lead with a goal to remember. Eric Dier, playing in midfield, dropped a quarterback-style 50-yard pass into Dele's run. There was still plenty to do, however, but Dele killed the pass with one touch and in one motion, clipped the ball over Caballero with his second. Four minutes later, Dele fired home his second from close range for 3-1. Our first victory at the Bridge since 1990 lifted us eight points clear of Chelsea with seven games remaining, and we went on to catch Liverpool and finish third on 77 points.
