Antonio Conte has reiterated the important role our fans will play as we prepare to face Leicester City in the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (2pm).
We go into the weekend sitting fifth in the table, two points adrift of Arsenal, who travel to West Ham in Sunday’s later game (4.30pm). Manchester United are fifth, three points behind us having played two games more than us. West Ham are seventh, six points behind us.
With five matches remaining, our destiny remains in our hands with a crunch north London derby now fast approaching - 12 May (7.45pm).
It’s a game at a time for Antonio and the players and full focus on the Foxes. “We’re in this position, and I believe we deserve to be there and to fight,” said Antonio. “For this reason, we have to face this moment with great enthusiasm, great passion. I said this to our players, and I want to say this to our fans.
“We have a fantastic opportunity, and we have this opportunity through our work. We want to enjoy it and for this reason, our fans will play a big part in this final (stage) of the season. They have to support us from the start until the end, when the situation is positive, when the situation is negative. If they push us, we are stronger.
“This is a great opportunity, and no-one gave us this opportunity, we earned this opportunity. We worked very hard and had fantastic performances. Now, we stay there, and we know we deserve to stay there because we’ve improved a lot. It’s important to live with enthusiasm and with the right pressure, to try to stay there and to take this satisfaction, because it would be great for everyone, the fans, the Club, the players, for me, for everybody.”
Leicester came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Roma in the Europa Conference League on Thursday evening. “We have to pay attention because don’t forget Leicester is a reality in this league,” added Antonio.
“They have a really good squad, a lot of good players, they can rotate and play with a really good team. Last season they won the FA Cup, then the Community Shield, and Brendan Rodgers is doing a fantastic job. To win in England means you are doing a fantastic job.”
