At Saturday’s match against Manchester United, the Club will pay its respects to those that have made the ultimate sacrifice in armed conflict and show support for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
Our men’s team will wear special edition Poppy shirts both this Saturday – our closest domestic home fixture to Remembrance Sunday – and for next weekend’s visit to Everton. Our women’s team will also wear Poppy shirts when they host Manchester United in the WSL on Saturday 7 November and against Arsenal on Saturday 13 November.
All match-worn shirts will be signed and auctioned following the matches to raise funds for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
Before kick-off on Saturday, we will be joined pitchside by 25 members of our Armed Forces Spurs Official Supporters’ Club, representative of the Army, Navy and Royal Air Force.
Both managers will lay Poppy wreaths on the centre circle on behalf of both Clubs.
We shall then observe a minute’s silence during which the Last Post will be played by Corporal (Retired RAF) Andrew John Lofthouse, former Principal Trumpet of the Central Band of the Royal Air Force. We should like to remind fans that the minute’s silence will start and end on the referee’s whistle and that any fans entering the stadium close to the 5.30pm kick-off should be respectful of this.
As a further mark of respect, our corner flags at this weekend’s game have been designed to display and honour the names of the former Spurs players who lost their lives across both World Wars.
Our ever-popular dual-branded Poppy pin badges will be on sale online and at the Tottenham Experience for a donation of £4.99 to the Royal British Legion.
The badge is a testament to the strength of the ongoing relationship between the Club and the Legion – the UK’s leading Service charity, providing practical care, advice and support to serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans of all ages and their families.
We are also encouraging all fans to share photos of themselves wearing their Poppy badges on social media using the hashtag #SpursRemembers.
