Antonio Conte has confirmed that Cristian Romero will miss Sunday’s Premier League clash against Leeds United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (4.30pm).
The defender was forced off with a hamstring injury after 53 minutes of Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against Brazil in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Antonio also reported that Giovani Lo Celso has returned with a ‘little problem’ and will be assessed ahead of Sunday.
Speaking to Spurs TV ahead of training on Friday, Antonio told us: “We have a few problems after the international break. Romero is injured. I spoke with the doctor and now it’s right to wait seven days, 10 days to have another scan and to understand the time he will need to recover. Also, Giovani Lo Celso has a little problem and I’m not sure if he’ll be available. We’ll see for Sunday.”
Antonio will also be without Oliver Skipp, who serves a one-match suspension after accumulating five yellow cards, the fifth last time out at Everton before the international break.
Positive news sees Bryan Gil and Ryan Sessegnon back in training and available - Ryan has been out since September’s international break and has missed our last 14 matches.
Antonio added: “Yes, good news, two young players, Bryan and Ryan, players with talent, players with quality and, for sure, to have them in the squad is good news for us, also for the players.”
