Our convincing victory and performance against Wolves ticked all the boxes for Ryan Mason on Sunday.

Harry Kane (45 minutes) and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (62 minutes) secured the 2-0 win and three points to move us up to sixth in the Premier League with two matches remaining - Villa at home on Wednesday (6pm) and Leicester City away next Sunday (4pm).

Pierre, who has played every minute of our 36 league matches this season, also contributed the assist for Harry’s clinical one-on-one finish. The Dane then tapped in after Rui Patricio parried Gareth Bale’s snapshot.

“It was an excellent performance, and it’s always important to bounce back from defeats, especially playing at home,” said Interim Head Coach Ryan. “That’s three wins on the bounce here now, so that’s a good feeling.

“As I said, the performance was excellent and deserved more goals, I felt. We were in control, created chances, their goalkeeper produced some good saves, we hit the post three times. Also, we defended well when we needed to as a group, so, overall, I'm really pleased.”

At 2-0 we were still pressing, still pushing, we had control of the game. I would have liked it to have been more, but the most important thing was the three points

Wolves arrived in N17 with one loss in their last five, but we dominated and racked up 24 efforts at goal - we had two cleared off the line, hit the woodwork three times and Patricio saved well from Harry, Gareth and Sergio Reguilon, who worked wonders to keep the ball alive and then find Bale for our second goal.

“Our front players were excellent, midfield, defence, everyone as a group and when you work collectively in a certain way and believe in it, this type of performance happens,” added Ryan, who was particularly pleased to see Harry score a first goal under his stewardship.

“I had a little joke with him afterwards... look, he’s one of my best mates, we’ve known each other for a very long time, so if he hadn’t scored for me in these seven games, I’d have been very disappointed. He notched one today, could have had more, but we’re all very pleased.”
