Harry Kane has bagged a hat-trick of end-of-season awards, with the striker named our One Hotspur Members’ Player of the Season, Junior Members’ Player of the Season and our Official Supporters’ Clubs’ Player of the Season, while Erik Lamela has collected our Goal of the Season accolade.
Harry has enjoyed another superb campaign in front of goal, netting 32 times in 48 appearances for us with our final match of the campaign still to come at Leicester City later today.
He’s currently level with Liverpool’s Mo Salah on 22 Premier League goals for 2020/21 and could clinch the Golden Boot if he scores this afternoon, while he’s also registered a league-high 13 assists so far.
After collecting his three awards, Harry smiled: “It’s great, I’m extremely thankful to everyone who voted. It’s been a good year from a personal point of view, it’s nice to be scoring the goals and adding some assists there as well so it’s a proud moment for me, it’s nice to get these awards and of course it’s a big thanks to the whole team.”
On his assists this term, he added: “It’s been something that’s gone well this season, with obviously Sonny finishing off a few chances for me as well so it’s nice to be at the top of that list. There’s one more game for us to play, an important game for us to try to win and try to have a little positive feeling come the end of the season.
“Obviously we need results to go our way but first and foremost we need to win our game so that’s all we’re focused on, that’s all we can control and it’s an important game – obviously Leicester are fighting for their Champions League spot, we’re fighting for a Europa League spot so it’s all to play for, but if we play to the capabilities that we have then it’s a game that we can win, for sure.”
Erik, meanwhile, has won our Goal of the Season award for his incredible rabona against Arsenal at the Emirates on 14 March.
On as a substitute for the injured Heung-Min Son, the Argentine international gave us the lead in stunning fashion shortly beyond the half-hour mark, wrapping his left foot around the back of his right to hook the ball through the legs of his marker and into the bottom corner.
Already named the Premier League’s EA SPORTS Goal of the Month for March, the goal has now been chosen as our top strike of 2020/21 by supporters.
“I’m happy to win this trophy and I want to say thank you to all the fans who voted for me – it’s something special,” said Erik, who also scored a rabona for us in a Europa League victory over Asteras Tripolis at White Hart Lane back in October, 2014.
“Of course it has a different feeling to do it in the derby – these games are completely different to other ones and it’s a very, very special goal. Honestly, I just decided in that moment to shoot like that. It was one second. Of course, I dream a lot about goals like that, especially in a derby, but it was in one second that I decided to shoot like that.
“I always like it when the supporters are with me and this is something that I’m grateful for. I feel good with this and I want to say thanks again to everyone who voted for me – I’m very happy.”
Meanwhile, Heung-Min Son has been named AIA Player of the Season for 2020/21.
The South Korean international forward has enjoyed his best return in front of goal for a single Premier League season this term, scoring 17 top-flight goals ahead of today’s final match at Leicester, putting him fourth on the list of Premier League top scorers in 2020/21. In all, he’s scored 22 goals in 50 appearances for us this campaign.
