How Hugo Lloris made it to 100 Premier League clean sheets

Mon 01 March 2021, 10:53|Tottenham Hotspur

Sunday’s 4-0 home win over Burnley saw Club captain Hugo Lloris reach an historic milestone – his 100th clean sheet in the Premier League.

With his first arriving on his top-flight debut for us in a 2-0 home victory against Aston Villa in October, 2012, Hugo has racked up the shutouts over his nine seasons in our colours and joins an exclusive club of only 16 goalkeepers in history to have achieved a century of clean sheets in the division.

Speaking to Spurs TV after Sunday’s triumph, the France international skipper declared: “I’m very happy with this number. Obviously, I couldn’t reach this number without the help of my team-mates.

“Football is all about teamwork, team effort, then the quality appears. I’m very happy with this number, I hope there will be a lot more. Then yes, I’m focussed like all my team-mates on the team, on the schedule. We have to do better in the Premier League. Hopefully today is one step forward for the team and then the Europa League… we have a lot of belief to make something special.”

Two other Spurs goalkeepers are among the 16 to have kept 100 or more Premier League clean sheets – current stopper Joe Hart, who has achieved 127 to date across his time with Manchester City, Birmingham City, West Ham and Burnley, and former custodian Brad Friedel, who notched up 132 with us, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Blackburn Rovers.
