We are delighted to announce the signing of Maéva Clemaron.
The midfielder has signed a contract with the Club until 2022, with the option to extend for a further year. She will wear the number 21 shirt for Spurs Women.
Maéva arrives having spent the last two seasons with Everton, where she made 22 appearances in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and helped the Toffees to the 2020 Women’s FA Cup Final.
Beginning her professional career in her homeland of France with Saint-Etienne, she went on to play over 100 games for them during a nine-year spell. Two productive campaigns then followed with fellow French outfit FC Fleury 91 before she made the move to Merseyside in 2019.
A France international, the 28-year-old has won five senior caps to date, scoring once, and was part of her nation’s squad for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The most important thing for me was the project that the Club proposed to me and the objectives that Rehanne Skinner has explained.
Maéva said: “I’m really happy and excited to join Spurs, a top club in England that is known throughout Europe and the world. The most important thing for me was the project that the Club proposed to me and the objectives that Rehanne Skinner has explained, with her visions for the team going into the future. The opportunity to play for Spurs is a really good one and a great challenge for me. Spurs are progressing well and will only get better and better on the pitch, so I’m very excited to join and work with everyone in order to help the Club reach its targets.”
Head Coach Rehanne said: “I’m delighted that Maéva has joined us. She’s a very experienced professional and having watched her a number of times over the course of the last couple of seasons in the WSL and in her appearances for France, I feel she will bring consistency and additional quality to complement our midfield. Her tactical understanding of how she can link our back four into our midfield will give us some real balance – she’s going to help us shore up that area even more and I’m looking forward to working with her.”
