@Spurs_KR will further engage a growing fanbase of the most watched and best-supported overseas soccer team in Korea.
• New platform to launch with exclusive content from Club’s star Korean forward, Heung-Min Son – the country’s most Tweeted athlete in 2020.
• Twitter account adds to Club’s existing bespoke platforms for Korea, including accounts on Naver TV and Facebook, as well as a dedicated website and Official Supporters’ Club.
• To mark the launch of @Spurs_KR, Twitter is giving fans the chance to unlock a special Son emoji via range of exclusive hashtags.

Tottenham Hotspur has today launched a new Korean Twitter account to further engage its growing fanbase in the homeland of one of the Club’s star players, Heung-Min Son.

The Club is currently the most watched and best-supported overseas soccer team in Korea, with thousands having travelled to North London to watch the team in action in recent years.

@Spurs_KR launches with exclusive content from Korea’s national team captain, Son, who has recently hit the 100-goal mark for us, as well as winning the FIFA Puskas Award for the best goal scored in the 2019/20 season. In 2020, he ranked as the most Tweeted athlete in Korea.

The platform provides a new way for Korean fans to engage with their favourite Club – and to mark its launch, Twitter is giving its users the chance to unlock a special Son emoji using any of the following hashtags:

• #Sonny
• #NiceOneSonny
• #HeungMinSon
• #토트넘 (Spurs / Tottenham)
• #손흥민 (Heung-Min Son)

The Club joins K-Pop bands BTS and BLACKPINK, as well as the Korean Football League, in launching on the platform in this way.

Tottenham Hotspur already has a popular account on Naver TV - Korea’s biggest digital streaming platform - as well as establishing a Korean language Facebook page, Club website and Official Supporters’ Club.

Son said: “It is great to know the importance my Club places on our fans in Korea - this is something that has been clear from the moment I joined.

“I have seen first-hand the growing popularity of Spurs in my home country, with the amount of Korean fans that travel to watch us play.

“I am sure the new Twitter account will prove hugely popular - I am looking forward to being involved and bringing followers exclusive content.”

YeonJeong Kim, Head of Global K-Pop and K-Content Partnerships, Twitter, said: “Twitter is the best place to join the conversations in real time about many different topics such as K-Pop, movie, drama, and sports.

“Korean stars are emerging in different activities across the world, like Heung-Min Son has risen to one of the top players of the English Premier League, while keeping their hometowns close to their hearts as Son has shown in his support towards BTS.

“Fans want to follow Tottenham’s latest news, and @Spurs_KR can share Heung-Min Son and team content with its fans, and also engage new fans as well.”

Bruna Zanin Juresic, Senior Manager and Football Clubs Lead, Twitter, added: "Tottenham Hotspur is incredibly innovative in how it uses Twitter to connect and engage with fans. We're thrilled to see them expand their presence to the Korean market, and excited for supporters to have a direct channel to engage with the Club and dedicated Heung-Min Son content."

Followers are encouraged to keep an eye out on @Spurs_KR for competitions and an exclusive Q&A with Son himself coming soon.
