There is positive news on Giovani Lo Celso and Serge Aurier as Jose Mourinho prepares the squad for our UEFA Europa League round of 32, second leg against Wolfsberger AC at home tomorrow evening (5pm).
Jose reported earlier that Gio was back in training and he was hopeful, ‘if everything goes well’, that the Argentine playmaker would be back in action in a couple of weeks.
Speaking after training on Tuesday, Jose said that Serge Aurier, sidelined for our last four games, could be back to face Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday (2pm).
“Serge is almost there, I believe for the weekend and if not the weekend, Fulham next week, but Serge is coming,” said Jose. “No-one else, we are fine, everybody is available and because in the Europa League we can have 12 players on the bench, I’m always very happy to bring some kids, and if the game goes in the right direction, of course I would love to give minutes to them.”
It’s great for the kids to be involved and, if possible, to get some minutes would be even better
Jamie Bowden, Marcel Lavinier and Dane Scarlett all made the trip to Hungary for the first leg of the tie and, with us 4-1 up from the first leg, Jose revealed that Marcel and Dane would be joined on the bench by two further Academy call-ups this time around.
Jose said: “Scarlett is again going to be on the bench, Marcel Lavinier also on the bench, Nile (John) on the bench, quite a beautiful story as he arrived at the Club almost as a baby... also Dilan (Markanday) on the bench. It’s great for the kids to be involved and, if possible, to get some minutes would be even better.”
