‘Important that we’re creating chances’ – Kane

Harry Kane has saluted the team’s work ethic and is eager for us to continue our unbeaten domestic run under Antonio Conte into the festive period.
Harry was in the thick of the action during Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool, opening the scoring with his first home league goal of the season but then seeing a couple of notable chances slip away after half-time as we went 2-1 down before coming back to draw level through Heung-Min Son.
Having endured a tough fortnight prior to the match with three consecutive fixtures called off over the wave of Coronavirus cases sweeping through the game and society in general, Harry is maintaining an upbeat mindset and has paid tribute to the work Antonio and his staff have been doing with the team to keep us in good shape going into the traditionally busy run of fixtures over Christmas.
“We’ve been itching to play, preparing for each game and for them to be postponed is never easy,” he said. “We’ve been raring to go but we’ve used the time to get a bit of rest in a busy period – Christmas is always hectic for us.
“The most important thing is that we’re creating chances and we can take that forward into the Carabao Cup in midweek (against West Ham) and Palace next weekend.
“We’ve just got to be ready for what’s to come. We’re preparing well on the training pitch and performances like (the one against Liverpool) will give us confidence going forward.
“All the hard work on the training pitch – tactically, physically – is paying off. The boss has only been here for six weeks or so, but we’re definitely seeing changes in the team and the way we work, the way we work without the ball. There were a couple of players starting against Liverpool who haven’t started a game for a while and it was great to see them put in the performances they did. We’ll need the whole squad if we’re going to push forward in this period.”
Reflecting on a high-octane encounter with the Reds at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Harry admitted he and his team-mates were not satisfied with only a point.
“There was definitely some disappointment in the dressing room after that,” he added. “I thought it was a really good performance from the start, getting the early goal and then we had some clear-cut opportunities after that to go two, three up and then it would have been a really difficult game for Liverpool. We let them back into the game, they went 2-1 up but we showed great character to then get back into the game ourselves. For sure, we had the chances out there and, on another night, we would have put them away and won the game. It shows we’re moving in the right direction though and hopefully we can build on that in the games ahead.”
