Joe Rodon will remain sidelined as we return to Premier League action at Wolves on Sunday (2pm).

The defender was likely to have featured in our UEFA Europa Conference League play-off first leg at Pacos de Ferreira on Thursday night but picked up an injury in training at the start of the week.

Speaking after training on Friday, Nuno told us: “Joe missed the game (at Pacos de Ferreira), and that was disappointing for us because he’s one of the players who needs to play, who needs to get real competition time. He’s better, but not well enough to join us on Sunday.”

Nuno also had an update on Cameron Carter-Vickers, who was forced off late in Portugal, and Cristian Romero, who also looked to have an issue in the latter stages.

“Cameron had an ugly injury, twisted his ankle and it doesn’t look good,” said Nuno. “That’s the worst thing that can happen to us, when you lose a player.”

The news was better on Cristian, as Nuno continued: “That was due to fatigue. It was his first game for a while, he played 90 minutes, intense, especially in the second half when we were unbalanced and that required a lot of situations from our defenders. He’s well today, recovering and taking the normal procedures. He’s okay.”

As for the squad that flew out to Porto, Nuno added: “We have issues, problems, fatigue, for many of the players it was the first time they played 90 minutes for a while, so it will take time for them to recover, but they are in the process now, doing whatever they can to be ready to help the team.”

Nuno also confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Tanguy Ndombele wouldn't be involved at Molineux on Sunday.
