Cristian Romero is back in the frame for our UEFA Europa Conference League play-off, second leg against Pacos de Ferreira on Thursday evening (7.45pm).
The defender looked in some discomfort towards the end of the first leg in Portugal and was subsequently left out of the squad as we beat Wolves 1-0 back in Premier League action on Sunday.
"Cristian is okay," reported Head Coach, Nuno Espirito Santo, after training on Wednesday. "He had problems in the previous leg, so we decided not to take him to Wolves. He trained yesterday, trained today and he's an option for tomorrow."
Unfortunately, fellow central defenders Joe Rodon and Cameron Carter-Vickers will not be options as we aim to turn around a 1-0 deficit from the first leg at the Estadio Capital do Movel. Cameron picked up an ankle injury in the latter stages of the first leg while Joe was injured in training last week.
Nuno added: "Joe is not fit to join us, or Cameron. Joe is better, much better, but not fit for tomorrow. We also have small issues that are normal after every match."
Nuno rested the starting XI from the City win for the first leg. Asked if he was set to make changes again or whether he'd take a different approach with us trailing 1-0 in the tie, Nuno replied: "It does not have to do with the result of the first leg, it’s to do with a lot of things we have to understand... the travelling, this week is totally different, we are all together, that allows us to make different decisions because it is different circumstances. We still have to decide, but it is a must-win game."
