Paços de Ferreira v Spurs – how to watch, team news, key information

Wed 18 August 2021, 20:53|Tottenham Hotspur

Thursday evening sees us visit Portuguese Primeira Liga side Paços de Ferreira in the first leg of our UEFA Europa Conference League play-off round tie (kick-off 7.30pm UK).

In order to qualify for the group stage of the newly-introduced competition, we must see off Paços de Ferreira over two legs, with the return meeting taking place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next Thursday.

Our opponents reached this stage with a 4-1 aggregate victory over Larne of Northern Ireland in the third qualifying round earlier this month, although they lost 3-0 at Boavista in the league on Monday evening.

Here’s all the key information you need to know ahead of the match...

How can I watch the game?

Thursday’s first leg at Estádio Capital do Móvel will be broadcast live on Premier Sports 1, kick-off 7.30pm UK time.

A reminder that there will be no away supporters permitted at the game itself.

You can also follow all the action live via our ever-popular Match Centre here on tottenhamhotspur.com and the Spurs Official app.

Log on from 90 minutes before kick-off wherever you are in the world to enjoy live minute-by-minute text updates and audio commentary, along with all the latest live stats and imagery.

How will the teams line up?

Nuno Espirito Santo will make 11 changes from the team that beat Manchester City in the Premier League at the weekend.

Our Head Coach confirmed at his pre-match press conference that none of the players who started against the reigning champions will be involved in Portugal.

Ryan Sessegnon is back in contention after a 45-minute stint for our Under-23s on Monday night, while Nuno could hand opportunities to some younger players as he rotates his squad.

The teams can name up to 12 substitutes each on the night, of which five may be used.

Who is the referee and what colours will the teams be playing in?

Italian referee Maurizio Mariani will take charge of the first leg at Estádio Capital do Móvel.

He'll be assisted by Daniele Bindoni and Stefano Alassio, with support from fourth official Marco Piccinini, who are all also from Italy.

Paços de Ferreira will play in yellow shirts, green shorts and yellow socks, with their goalkeeper in light blue.

At this stage of the competition, we shall be utilising kit from our Premier League stock and as such we will play in Lilywhite shirts, navy blue shorts and Lilywhite socks on Thursday night. We shall change to our traditional all-white European strip should we progress to the group stage. Our goalkeeper will wear all orange.

What will the weather be like?

It’s forecast to be a bright, sunny day in the local area on Thursday, with temperatures expected to be around 19 degrees at kick-off.
