Harry Kane and Erik Lamela have been recognised with honours at this year’s London Football Awards.
In a virtually held ceremony on Tuesday evening, Harry was named as the ‘Premier League Player of the Year for 2020/21’, while Erik Lamela claimed the ‘Goal of the Year’ accolade.
It is the second time in his career that Harry has collected the Player of the Year award, having previously taken home the prize in 2018 - a season in which he recorded a career-best 45 goal involvements in all competitions. This year, however, the prolific marksman has gone above and beyond that with an outstanding return of 47 goal contributions in just 44 outings. The striker also currently leads both the Premier League’s goals (21) and assists (13) charts.
Our number 10 saw off competition from West Ham’s Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek, Mason Mount of Chelsea as well as team-mate Heung-Min Son to receive the award.
Erik’s spectacular ‘rabona’ against Arsenal in March, meanwhile, claimed the ‘Goal of the Year’ award.
Scoring with the special skill for the second time in his Spurs career following his unforgettable effort against Asteras Tripolis in 2014, the Argentine once again executed the wrap-around strike magnificently to open the scoring against the Gunners last month. The effort took the prize ahead of West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini (against us), Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze (versus Sheffield United), Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud (versus Atletico Madrid) and former Hammer Sebastian Haller (versus Crystal Palace).
Spurs Women forward Angela Addison was shortlisted for the ‘Women’s Young Player of the Year’ award.
