Sonny joins our four-goals-plus club in the Premier League!

Heung-Min Son has joined an elite Club of some of our greatest-ever strikers by scoring four goals in a Premier League fixture.

Sonny's salvo came in Sunday's 5-2 victory against Southampton at St Mary's. The South Korean star crucially levelled the game at 1-1 just before the break before completing his hat-trick-plus-one in the second half. Harry Kane assisted all four goals - a Premier League first - before tucking away the fifth.

As you'd almost expect, Harry is also on the list of players to score four-plus for us in a Premier League fixture with his quartet in a 6-1 win at Leicester City in May, 2017, on his way to the Golden Boot.

Just look at the players on this list! Jurgen Klinsmann was first to score four for us in the Premier League back in May, 1998, followed by Dimitar Berbatov almost 10 years later. Robbie Keane's four against Burnley in September, 2009 was soon followed by Jermain Defoe topping the lot with his famous five all in the second half in our 9-1 win against Wigan in November, 2009.

Jurgen Klinsmann - 4 goals v Wimbledon - 02/05/98

We were in a touch of trouble in the second half of the 1997/98 campaign. Jurgen arrived back at the Lane in December, 1997 with us in the bottom three and a scrap on our hands. With three games left, we were still only two points above the drop zone but, thankfully, back-to-back wins against Newcastle and Wimbledon saw us climb up to 14th. Jurgen essentially secured survival with a four-goal haul as we put Wimbledon to the sword at Selhurst Park in game 37 of 38.

Dimitar Berbatov - 4 goals v Reading - 29/12/07

What a game this was! All looked rosy when the old one-two clicked early, Berba tapping home from Robbie Keane's cross (7mins). We went 2-1 down (16, 53), Berba made it 2-2 (63), 3-2 down (69), Berba's hat-trick, somehow volleying a skied clearance home, made it 3-3 (73), but Reading then made it 4-3 a minute later! Steed Malbranque pinged home the leveller (76), Jermain Defoe nodded home for 5-4 (79) and Berba crowned it all by lashing home his fourth for 6-4 (83). Less than a month later, we beat Arsenal 5-1 in the League Cup semi-final, and went on to win the trophy against Chelsea in February, 2008.

Robbie Keane - 4 goals v Burnley - 26/09/09

Robbie Keane was at his best as we toppled Burnley at the Lane in September, 2009. We were flying at the time, tucked in third behind Chelsea and United. Keano slotted the first from the spot and then showed his range of finishing in the second half, pinging into the top corner with his right foot, left foot into the far corner, then right foot home at the near post for his four-goal haul. We went on to finish fourth in 2009/10 and qualify for the Champions League for the first time.

Jermain Defoe - 5 goals v Wigan - 22/11/09

On the 10-year anniversary of his greatest goalscoring feat, Jermain Defoe told us he felt unstoppable. It certainly looked that way! He'd already scored six in nine when Wigan arrived at the Lane that November day. Incredibly, it was only 1-0 at half-time, before we ran riot in the second half. The goals were all so similar as well from JD, clinical finishes from the right angle, including a hat-trick in seven minutes. JD scored 24 goals that season as we qualified for the Champions League.

Harry Kane - 4 goals v Leicester City - 18/05/17

You didn't expect Harry not to be on this list, did you? Cast your minds back to the end of 2016/17, we waved an emotional goodbye to the Lane - Harry scored in the final north London derby before claiming the final Lane goal by a Spurs player in a 2-1 win against United - and we then had two matches left on the road, Leicester and Hull. Harry bagged four goals as we beat Leicester 6-1, before scoring another hat-trick in the 7-1 win at Hull. Seven goals in four days at the KP and KC secured second place - and Harry's second Golden Boot.

And so to Sunday, and what a display by Sonny and Harry, four goals for Sonny, four assists for Harry, devastating finishing from the South Korean as we turned around a 1-0 deficit into an impressive 5-2 win at St Mary's. It was Sonny's first hat-trick in the Premier League and his second for the Club, following his treble against Millwall in the FA Cup in March, 2017. He now has 89 goals in 232 appearances for us.
