Moussa: “We want to start on the front foot”

Moussa Sissoko is back, and already thinking about making a positive start to 2020/21.
The all-action midfielder made his first appearances in pre-season against Reading and Birmingham City last Friday and Saturday, and has now hooked up with the France squad alongside Hugo Lloris for UEFA Nations League matches against Sweden (Saturday) and Croatia (Tuesday).
Now with 160 Spurs appearances to his name, Moussa recovered from a knee injury in January to start all nine of our matches after lockdown, playing his part as we finished with five wins, three draws and one loss. He wants us to pick up where we left off...
“Everyone is excited and looking forward to this new season,” he said. “Last season we had a new manager, and sometimes it takes time to adapt to a new style of play. In the last few months we’ve worked hard and during the last few games you could see we were better on the pitch.
Hopefully, this will be a great season for us, we’re excited to start the league
“Hopefully, this will be a great season for us, we’re excited to start the league. We want to start the season well and the first game will be a good opportunity to show that we’re going to compete until the end of the season.
“Before that, we go to internationals, some players will stay and have another game against Watford, I’m sure they will do well and when we all come back, we will work again and try to be ready for the first game. We want to start the season on the front foot.”
Moussa enjoyed a short break with his family on the conclusion of a 2019/20 campaign that ran from pre-season in July, 2019, until our final game at Palace over a year later, 26 July, 2020.
“I’m fine,” he added. “We had a good break, three weeks was short but better than nothing. It was a strange season last year, very long, but I’ve had a few minutes in the legs, now I’m going on international duty and we’re all happy to be back, and ready to go again.”
