Michael Kiwanuka on N17 Live on Sunday

Fri 30 October 2020, 17:46|Tottenham Hotspur

Singer-songwriter and Spurs fan Michael Kiwanuka is our very special guest on N17 Live ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash against Brighton.

Recent winner of the prestigious Mercury Prize for his brilliant third album Kiwanuka, Michael will join presenter and fellow Spurs fan Ben Haines at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for our popular pre-match show, which will begin at 6.30pm, ahead of the 7.15pm kick-off.

Born in Muswell Hill, N10, Michael is a lifelong Spurs fan who first stepped through the turnstiles aged 10 in the late 1990s. Musically, he burst onto the scene by winning BBC’s Sound of 2012, while his first album, Home Again, made it into the top 10 in five countries, including top five in the UK.

His follow up Love & Hate in 2016 was also well-received and hit number one in the UK. His music also reached a new audience in the US when his track Cold Little Heart was chosen as the theme for TV smash Big Little Lies, starring the likes of Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern. It reached number six in the US charts. A live session video of the song has 6.5million views on YouTube.

Kiwanuka was released last year to great critical acclaim, and in September, was announced as the winner of the Mercury Prize, beating the likes of Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia and Stormzy's Heavy Is The Head to the prize. You'll have the chance to win a signed vinyl copy of this special album during N17 Live on Sunday!

Spurs Remembers

The Club will be paying its respects to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in armed conflict ahead Sunday's match. A minute’s silence will be observed prior to kick-off, during which the Last Post will be played live from within the stadium by Corporal (Retired RAF) Andrew John Lofthouse, former Principal Trumpet of the Central Band of the Royal Air Force. Andrew will also join us in the N17 Live studio. Also, look out for highlights of a video call between goalkeeper Joe Hart and our legendary former captain Gary Mabbutt and members of our Armed Forces Spurs Supporters Club.

Competition time!

As well as Michael's signed Kiwanuka albums, we've a special Halloween-themed giveaway on Sunday - a signed Xbox FIFA21 to the best Spurs Pumpkins! Keep an eye out on our social channels on Saturday for how to enter.
