Sonny's delight at Premier League POTM award hat-trick

Heung-Min Son has spoken of his pride at joining some of the Premier League’s greats by winning the EA SPORTS Player of the Month award three times or more.
Two of his team-mates are on that list - Harry Kane, who ties Steven Gerrard in second with six wins, just one behind Sergio Aguero - and Gareth Bale, who also has three from his first spell at the Club.
Sonny pipped Harry for October’s award, and is now one of 21 players to have landed the monthly prize on three occasions or more, joining the likes of Ronaldo, Rooney, Shearer, Scholes and another Spurs great, Robbie Keane.
“It makes me really proud,” said Sonny, on being told of the esteemed company he’s keeping in terms of monthly awards. “It’s so hard to win once, so I’m a lucky guy to win it three times.
“I will continue to work as hard as possible, not just because of this award, and hopefully more to come. If I work hard, maybe it will come, but I work hard for the team and we’ll see. That list makes me so proud, but I just want to improve every action, every day.”
The South Korean star took the prize for October after a stunning spell which saw him bag four goals and two assists in three top-flight games, including two goals in our 6-1 victory at Old Trafford and a headed winner at Burnley. He’s currently the league’s joint-top scorer in 2020/21 with eight goals.
As always, he directed the spotlight to his team-mates. “To win this award is a great feeling, a great achievement for me, but I’m really grateful to my team-mates, without them, I couldn’t win,” he added.
“It was a great month, great results, so I’m very happy. For me, when I saw the list, I thought 'H' (Harry Kane) should win this easily! I never expected to win this award because Harry’s been fantastic all season, he completely deserves it!”
