App exclusive: Sonny keen to keep strong run going

Heung-Min Son is eager to get back into a Spurs shirt and keep his bright start to the season going as we welcome Manchester City to N17 on Saturday evening (5.30pm kick-off).
After completing the final international break of 2020 with South Korea, Sonny is relishing this weekend’s return to club football and is hoping he can continue on with the sort of form which saw him pick up October’s Premier League Player of the Month award.
Having scored four times and assisted twice across our three October league games to collect last month’s prize - the third of his Spurs career - our number seven now has 10 goals to his name so far in all competitions this season as well as five assists, and he’s hungry to add even more. On Saturday, he’ll be hoping he can do that in earnest against City.
Over the last decade, the Citizens have shown their quality in the Premier League, establishing themselves as one of the strongest sides in the competition and thus, the South Korean international admits they are not one of his ‘favourite opponents’. However, his recent record of four goals in his last four outings against the men in sky blue perhaps suggests otherwise.
Every game is so tough in the Premier League, it’s so hard to compete. It’s really important we’re focussed and looking game-by-game.
“I feel great and can’t wait to play again,” Sonny beamed after training at our Enfield Training Centre as he looked ahead to our clash with Pep Guardiola's men. “Obviously, I still keep saying it, we’re missing our fans so much at the stadium. It’s a massive game for us. It will be tough, a great opponent, one of the best in the world, so we have to be ready and to bring our best performance to get the three points.
“It’s not my favourite opponent, they are strong, what I said before, they are good, strong, like us. We have to bring our best performance and we’ll see. This month is very important, we’re playing big teams (with games against Chelsea, Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Leicester City still to come for us in the next 30 days, as well as the second half of our Europa League group stage campaign) but every game is important.
“Every game is so tough in the Premier League, it’s so hard to compete. It’s really important we’re focussed and looking game-by-game. First City, then Europa League. I just look forward to the coming game, not the coming games. I’m very excited.”
