Sonny wins Match of the Day's Goal of the Season

Tue 28 July 2020, 08:12|Tottenham Hotspur

Heung-Min Son's wonder goal against Burnley was voted Goal of the Season on BBC's Match of the Day on Sunday evening.

A public vote left three goals in the running for pundits Alan Shearer, Ian Wright and presenter Gary Lineker to select the winner - Sonny's strike, Kevin De Bruyne for City against Newcastle and Anthony Martial for United against Palace.

Ian Wright was first up and went for Sonny and Shearer added: "Yes, Son, absolutely, an unbelievable goal." Lineker added: "What a goal it was."

Sonny becomes the third Spur to win this prestigious award, following in the footsteps of Paul Gascoigne's free-kick in the FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal in 1990/91 and Dele's stunning overhead flick up and volley against Palace in the Premier League in 2015/16.
