Tanguy Ndombele is a doubt for our Premier League clash against Newcastle at St James’ Park on Wednesday evening (6pm).
Jose Mourinho has reported that the French midfielder picked up a knee problem in training on Monday that may keep him sidelined for the trip to Tyneside.
“From the last game, no injuries,” said Jose in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday. “Yesterday in training, Ndombele injured. I don’t think he will be selected, but we have another training session.
“Dele may train with us in the afternoon, but I also don’t believe that he can play. Serge Aurier is a big question mark at the moment. Apart from that, no further news.”
Jose later spoke to Spurs TV about Serge, whose brother tragically passed away in the early hours of Monday morning.
“We can only be supportive and respect any decision he wants to take,” said Jose. “It’s a very personal situation. We would never put any pressure on him to play, not at all. He will have the freedom to do what he feels is the right thing to do.”
