We welcome Southampton to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday evening for our FA Cup fourth round replay (7.45pm kick-off).

In the original tie at St Mary’s Stadium, it finished 1-1 with the Saints’ Sofiane Boufal cancelling out Heung-Min Son’s 58th-minute strike.

In our visitors' last trip to N17, we came out on top with a 2-1 win as first-half goals from Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Kane either side of Danny Ings' equaliser sealed the points at the end of September.

Team news

Midfielder Stuart Armstrong is a doubt for Southampton ahead of our meeting on Wednesday night after he limped out of the original tie on 25 January with a hip injury.

Southampton’s form

Since the original meeting between us and Southampton the weekend before last, the Saints have been involved in just a single game. On Saturday afternoon, they endured a tough time as they fell to a 4-0 defeat against Liverpool. A goal from former Saint Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as well as a strike from Jordan Henderson and a Mo Salah brace secured the win for the table-toppers. That result also ended a run of four consecutive Premier League away wins for Ralph Hasenhuttl's team.

New faces

Only one new face arrived at St Mary’s during the January transfer window, but that addition is one that is very familiar to us as, last week, Academy graduate Kyle Walker-Peters completed a loan move from N17 to the south coast.

One to watch

Saints skipper Pierre-Emile Højbjerg has continued to lead by example this season. A competitor in midfield with heart and balance, the Danish international is a central cog in the Southampton engine, able to break play up and get his team moving up the pitch. Signed from Bayern Munich in 2016, Højbjerg is tenacious in his work, always looking to learn and is almost ever-present on the south coast – he has played 28 of his side’s 30 games so far this season.

Played for both

Forward Grzegorz Rasiak signed for us in 2005 and made nine appearances under Martin Jol before joining Southampton the following year. A Poland international, Grzegorz began his footballing days in his homeland with Warta Poznan before first moving to England in 2004, signing for Derby County. After an impressive campaign with the Rams in the Championship, the striker made the move to north London in the summer of 2005, but he struggled to hold down a regular place under Jol as the striking talents of Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane and Mido created fierce competition up front.

In February, 2006, Grzegorz moved to St Mary’s, initially on loan, before making the move permanently in the close season. He later had spells at Bolton, Watford, Reading and Cypriot side AEL Limassol before returning to Poland where he finished his career as it had started, with Warta Poznan.
