Joe Jonas: "You can feel the energy in this place"

Joe Jonas has seen it all in 14 years and counting in show business – but nothing quite like our new stadium.
As a member of the Jonas Brothers with brothers Kevin and Nick, he’s a world superstar who has sold over 17 million albums worldwide, starred in two films (Camp Rock/2), TV series (Jonas LA on Disney), been nominated for Grammys, won AMAs and toured the world.
After a lengthy break, the brothers are very much back together. Their first album for 10 years, Happiness Begins, went to number one on the US Billboard chart last year. So did the first single off that album, Sucker, which hit in March and landed an MTV award in August.
They toured the UK in January and February as part of a schedule taking them across Europe and back to the States and a run at Las Vegas in April.
As it turned out, hours before performing at the O2 Arena, Joe was treading the hallowed turf and taking a penalty at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Why? He takes up the story...
“I’ve been on a shoot for Quibi, a new platform, and the show is called Cup of Joe. Long story short, I travel the world but I don’t get to see the world, so this is my opportunity to get to know different cities and countries and this episode is London, so I got to hang out with Ledley King, talk about this team, the legacy and what football means to London and how important it is. I also got to go on the pitch and take a penalty, so a little pressure with an audience, but I had a good time!”
So, the question we ask all first-time visitors, what did he think of our new home? “It’s a gorgeous stadium, absolutely stunning,” he said, looking around as supporters started to venture into the bowl. “You can feel the energy in this place, electrifying, and everyone is so nice.”
This might be the world-famous home of the Spurs, and the first purpose-built NFL venue outside of the USA - and set for both codes of rugby this year - but it’s also a concert venue, nudge, nudge...
“You know what, I said to my management when we walked in, we’ve got to play this place!" said Joe. "Maybe you’ll see us here one day.”

“It feels great to be back on the road with my brothers again, there is nothing like it,” he added. “If you can do what you love and do it with family, it’s really special. We’ve played all over the UK, such fantastic crowds, and such a warm response.
“It felt incredible (to get back together). We all felt we needed time and a break to come back together and really enjoy it again, and once we did, it felt fantastic. I’m really thrilled.”
Joe, 30, loved his time at Spurs - and told us: “I love soccer. My first coach is here - my dad! I’ve always been a fan of soccer and married into a British family (Joe is married to English actress Sophie Turner, famed for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones), so I thought I’d get my allegiance, but they are rugby fans. I’m open for business! Maybe you guys will win me over!”
After beating Manchester City that day, let’s hope we did!
