Steven Bergwijn struck gold on his debut against City - and became the 80th player in our history to score a Football/Premier League debut goal when he volleyed home the opener in our 2-0 win on Sunday.
What a way to mark your first appearance! Steven controlled Lucas Moura's clever pass on his chest and in one movement, volleyed into the corner from the edge of the box, sparking joyful celebrations in the new stadium. Heung-Min Son soon added the second in a fine victory.
Steven joins Tanguy Ndombele on the list this season with the French midfielder scoring on his debut against Villa back in August. Before Tanguy's goal, Eric Dier's late winner at West Ham was our last goalscoring debut back in 2014.
You have to go back to 1908 and our first match in the Football League for our first league debut goalscorers. Legendary striker Vivian Woodward, a huge figure in our history, did the business that day - 1 September, 1908 - with two goals in a 3-0 win against FA Cup holders Wolves in the old Second Division. He was joined on the scoresheet by Tom Morris, at 33, still our oldest debutant league goalscorer. John Curtis also notched on his league debut in that first season in another 3-0 win, this time against Bradford Park Avenue on 24 April, 1909.
The first debutant goalscorer of the Premier League era was Sol Campbell, who netted in a 2-1 defeat against Chelsea in December 5, 1992, the Premier League's first season.
Five members of our 100 club - the 17 players to have scored over 100 goals for us - registered on their debuts, including Martin Chivers, Jermain Defoe and, of course, our all-time top goalscorer Jimmy Greaves. Club greats George Robb, Terry Medwin, John White, Martin Peters, Ricky Villa, Clive Allen and Jurgen Klinsmann also celebrated debut goals.
Greavsie scored a hat-trick on his debut, one of only three players to do so. He scored his treble in a 5-2 win against Blackpool on 16 December, 1961. Earlier, Charlie Wilson scored three against South Shields in Division Two on 20 September, 1919.
But the best debut show goes to Colin Lee, who famously bagged four on his debut in the 9-0 win against Bristol Rovers in Division Two on 22 October, 1977.
