Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg has alluded to the ‘no excuses’ philosophy he feels as a Spurs player.
Our world-class training facility at Hotspur Way has been ‘home’ for the Danish international since the middle of August and he’s now made his first appearance at our renowned new stadium, playing 65 minutes of our pre-season opener against Ipswich on Saturday.
It’s safe to say Pierre is relishing his new surroundings. “The coaching staff are fantastic, the whole surroundings around the team, everything is so well set up, so it’s really good," he said.
As a whole Club we’re looking forward to the Premier League starting again and showing what we’re all about
“There’s an environment where everyone wants to be better, everyone wants to have no excuses and as a human being, as a sportsman, as a footballer, it’s a great place to be."
It didn’t escape Pierre's attention that last week’s fixture announcement for the 2020/21 Premier League season presented an early return to his former club Southampton, the trip to St Mary’s scheduled for the second weekend of the campaign on 19 September (all fixture dates subject to change).
“It’s 90 minutes of football, like any other game,” added Pierre. “As a whole Club we’re looking forward to the Premier League starting again and showing what we’re all about, showing what we want to achieve, and wasting no time.”
