Heung-Min Son has added another accolade to his recent collection after being named our Legends’ Player of the Season.
The 28-year-old, who scooped four end-of-season awards in the wake of our final home game of the campaign against Leicester City last month, has been chosen by our ex-players as their stand-out performer of 2019/20, having scored 18 goals in 41 appearances over the course of the elongated term.
One of only three players in the entire Premier League to register at least 10 goals and 10 assists in the top flight during the season, he follows in the footsteps of Moussa Sissoko, who won the inaugural Legends’ award last year.
Votes were cast by Club greats from down the years, many of whom continue to appear regularly as part of our matchday hospitality team.
“It’s been Sonny’s consistency during the season that has caught the eye,” said our former FA Cup and UEFA Cup winner Graham Roberts, speaking on behalf of the legends.
“Without Harry Kane in the team for a long period, he had to step up and he certainly did that. He gives a lot for the team, he’s always out there working hard and he’s always got a smile on his face. We felt he was the best person to have the award this year – he thoroughly deserves it.”
Son also won the One Hotspur Player of the Season, One Hotspur Juniors' Player of the Season, Official Supporters’ Clubs’ Player of the Season and Goal of the Season awards – the latter for his dazzling solo strike at home to Burnley back in December – making it a clean sweep of end-of-season accolades for the flying forward. The Burnley goal also won him Match of the Day’s Goal of the Season prize.
