It’s safe to say Lucas Moura is missing football.
Our Brazilian livewire continues to maintain his fitness at home as the world continues to battle against the coronavirus. Football remains on lockdown, with the Premier League recently stating that the 2019/20 season will only return when it is safe and appropriate to do so.
“I miss everything,” said Lucas. “I miss playing football and I miss my team-mates. I miss the training ground and I miss our routine of going to the training centre, to play and have a good time with each other. I miss everything.”
We need to enjoy every day with our friends, with our family because when we arrive at difficult moments like this, we cannot have regrets
At least Lucas has been able to tune in with the rest of the squad with daily training sessions now run remotely by Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff.
“I think they (the remote sessions) work well for everyone,” said Lucas. “First of all, you see the commitment of everyone. At 11 o’clock in the morning, training very hard to keep fit for the season because... we don’t know when it will come back, but we need to be ready for it.”
Born and raised in Sao Paulo, Lucas, 27, left Brazil to follow his footballing dream in Europe back in 2010. His family back home is never far from his thoughts...
“I talk to them every day and everyone is okay,” he added. “My family, my parents, my brother, my sister, they are all keeping well at home and are following the rules.
“It’s a difficult time, especially as we don’t know when this will finish. I miss them a lot and I go to Brazil on holiday once a year. This year, I don’t know when I will be going to see them.”
