18-82 Q&A - Oliver Skipp: 'Golf, ghosts and the time I played a shepherd'

Continuing our Q&A feature where we speak to the players and ask them to choose 18 lifestyle questions to answer from a possible 82, using the year of the Club’s formation as inspiration. Today, Oliver Skipp is in the hotseat...

1 – You have a day off – what is your perfect day?

Oliver: “I’d start with a bit of a lie in, then see some friends, spend time with them and probably do something active, like play golf. Something like that!”

2 – What is the most used WhatsApp group on your phone?

Oliver: “I’d say family.”

3 – Have you ever had a job outside football?

Oliver: “No, I’m very fortunate in that respect, I’ve been in the Academy since the age of six.”

4 – What is the best goal ever scored?

Oliver: “That’s a tough one. I want it to be a Spurs goal and I’ll go for Danny Rose’s volley against Arsenal in 2010. I was there that day. What a goal that was!”

5 – What is your most treasured possession?

Oliver: “It’s the shirt from my Spurs debut (3-1 win against West Ham in the Carabao Cup, October, 2018), signed by the team. It’s hanging up in my bedroom.”

6 – Would you rather be a pop star or a footballer?

Oliver: “Footballer – silly question!”

7 – What is your position on facial hair?

Oliver: “It depends – I think it suits some people, but not others. I don’t like it myself. It would make me look even older!”

8 – Do you still have your first medal?

Oliver: “Yes, I do. It’s from an early tournament while playing Sunday football for Bengeo Tigers in Hertfordshire.”

9 – Have you ever seen a ghost?

Oliver: “No, and I’m not a believer in ghosts.”

10 – In which TV show would you like a walk-on part?

Oliver: “I’d go for the (Netflix) series ‘Shooter’, perhaps as the sniper. That would be pretty cool.”

11 – Describe your worst hairstyle...

Oliver: “There have been a few! In year five, year six at school, everyone at the time went for longer hair, so I thought I’d give it a go, but I look back at photos now and it was horrendous. I was nine or 10. I won’t be digging those out in a hurry!”

12 – Do you collect anything?

Oliver: “No, but when I was younger, I used to collect Match Attax. I’ve got books of them from 2005, 2006 and 2007. For three or four years, I collected every card. I had to have every single player. It must have been a nightmare for my parents.”

13 – What is your favourite cheese?

Oliver: “I’ve not really got one, so I’ll go for mozzarella.”

14 – Did you ever appear in a school play?

Oliver: “Yes, I was a shepherd in the nativity play at my primary school.”

15 – What was the last film you watched?

Oliver: “I don’t go to the cinema that often, the last film I watched was ‘22 July’, about the terrorist attack in Norway in 2011 and the aftermath of that attack.”

16 – What word do you think you use the most?

Oliver: “I’ve honestly no idea. That’s not the answer, by the way! I don’t know.”

17 – Are you still in touch with your school friends?

Oliver: “Yes, all the time. I hope they are proud, but they keep me down to earth. If I mis-control the ball in any match, I’ll know about it in the group chat the next day!”

18 – Do you have any superstitions?

Oliver: “No, not really.”
