Angela Addison: "Sunday is going to be another brilliant day for fans"

Angela Addison is anticipating another “brilliant day for fans” when we take on West Ham at the London Stadium this Sunday (29 September), with around 20,000 supporters expected.

The young attacker played over 20 minutes at Stamford Bridge in our opening Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture and is relishing the opportunity to play in front of another large crowd at Sunday’s London derby.

“I’m so excited,” the 19-year-old said. “I think it’s going to be another brilliant day for fans and I’m expecting it to be a great atmosphere too. Our fans could be heard throughout the entire match at Stamford Bridge and I loved it - I think I thrive off the noise and I’d love to play in front of crowds like that week in, week out.”

We’ll be playing for three points, like we always do.

We return to league action against the Hammers, following a disappointing 4-0 defeat to Reading in the Continental League Cup last Sunday.

“I know the result at the weekend was disappointing, but we need to be confident going into every game,” Angela commented.

“We’ll be playing for three points, like we always do, and to get that at the London Stadium would be brilliant for us and our fans. We know West Ham are going to be up for it, but we’ll make sure we’re ready to compete and hopefully it will be an entertaining match for the fans to watch.”

Angela reflected on our previous meeting with the Hammers that saw us win 2-1 in a pre-season friendly at Rush Green Stadium: “West Ham always give you a good game. In pre-season we were losing 1-0 and I think the substitutes really changed that game and we went on to win 2-1. That shows how important the players on the bench can be. I know it was a friendly, but we want to win every game we play in, so to have won after being behind, and away from home, was a great result for us and shows the character we have in the squad.”

Kick-off on Sunday at the London Stadium is at 2.30pm. If you don’t have a match ticket, you can watch the game live on BT Sport.
