Siri Worm: “We have to learn from our mistakes”

Full-back Siri Worm says Spurs Women must stay “switched on” when we face her former side Everton on Sunday (24 November) in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League (WSL) at Southport FC.
Siri joined us in the summer from the Toffees and will face her old club for the first time since switching Merseyside for N17.
Everton, a team in impressive league form, have four wins from six games – their only defeats in the WSL this season have come against Reading and Manchester City.
“It will definitely be a tough game against my former team,” Siri admitted. “They have a good squad with lots of quality, but so do we. Their style is different compared to us because they are more direct when going forward. They like to play with pace and they have powerful players in both attack and defence. I think they have started this season well, it will be a good battle for the three points on Sunday and hopefully a good atmosphere.”

The Dutch international played over 80 minutes at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Sunday as we were left to rue missed chances and were punished in the second half against reigning champions Arsenal.
She was an unused substitute in our midweek defeat against Chelsea in the Continental League Cup, but it was a similar tale of events to the Arsenal loss as we were in the game at half-time at 0-0, but found ourselves conceding in the second half and coming away empty-handed.
“I think the main thing we can take away from the last two games is that we have to be switched on from the start until the final whistle,” Siri commented. “If you switch off and give teams in this league even a little bit of space, they are good enough to punish you and they will take their chances. We have to learn from our mistakes. This weekend is a chance for us to bounce back and build momentum for the games leading up to Christmas.”
Our visit to Merseyside presents our second trip out of the capital this season and Siri feels it’s a perfect opportunity to gel with her team-mates off the field.
“I'm really looking forward to the trip with the team,” she added. "There is always a good atmosphere when we are together and I think the more time we spend off the pitch with each other, the better we will be when we step on the pitch. We were a very new team at the start of the season so it has been important for us to get to know each other quickly, and trips like these will only help us to achieve that.”
