Internationals - Kane scores in England win over Montenegro
Mon 25 March 2019, 22:16|Tottenham Hotspur
Harry Kane bagged his 22nd senior international goal as England put five past Montenegro in Euro 2020 qualifying on Monday night.
Our home-grown striker led the Three Lions out once more in Podgorica and, just like in Friday’s big win over Czech Republic at Wembley, scored one of England’s overall five goals as they made it two victories from two in qualifying Group A.
The hosts went ahead after 17 minutes through Marko Vesovic but Gareth Southgate’s men recovered to lead 2-1 at the break thanks to goals from Michael Keane and Ross Barkley. Midfielder Barkley added his second before Harry got in on the act, routinely side-footing Raheem Sterling’s square ball home on 71 minutes. Sterling had the final say to make it 5-1.
Harry, Danny Rose and Dele Alli all started for England – Harry came off seven minutes from the end, Danny put in a full shift at left-back and Dele was withdrawn on 64 minutes. Kieran Trippier was an unused substitute.
Elsewhere on Monday evening, Hugo Lloris kept a clean sheet for France as they beat Iceland 4-0 in a friendly at the Stade de France. Moussa Sissoko was introduced as a late substitute.
