Helping little Archie

Thu 21 March 2019, 14:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Yorkshire Spurs, one of our 200 Official Supporters’ Clubs, have been raising funds for one of their youngest members, Archie Flintoft, a three-year-old boy who suffers from a rare life-threatening condition.

Archie was born with Diamond Blackfan Anaemia (DBA), a genetic condition which primarily affects the ability of bone marrow to produce red blood cells. As a result of this, he needs a blood transfusion every three weeks. Last year, Archie’s family set up ‘Archie’s Army’ to help raise money for DBA UK, a charity which helps people affected by the condition.

On Sunday 17 March, Harrogate Town Football Club organised a fundraising football match against stars from Emmerdale to raise money for DBA UK. Yorkshire Spurs donated signed Spurs memorabilia to the post-match raffle which raised a total of £6,455.

This Saturday, Yorkshire Spurs are hosting a night with Ledley King at Warehouse, Leeds to raise further funds for DBA UK.

Paul Pavlou from Yorkshire Spurs said: “Archie and his family have been members of Yorkshire Spurs for a year, and always watch Spurs play on the TV together. We try to do as much as we can to raise funds for DBA UK, and support Archie and his family. We are delighted to have raised so much and hope that we raise more this weekend at our special event with Ledley King.”

As well as coming together to watch Spurs matches, many of our Official Supporters’ Clubs have become a force for good within their local community. This season alone, Mobile Alabama Spurs raised over $41,000 for Movember, Malaysia Spurs donated toys and gifts to their local orphanage, Atlanta Spurs helped build affordable houses for vulnerable people in their community and Supporters’ Clubs from around the world joined forces to find a missing scarf for 10-year-old fan Phoebe McGrath.

We currently have 200 Official Supporters' Clubs across the world, including South Korea, India, Singapore, Lebanon, Nigeria, Australia, Bermuda, South Africa, Brazil and USA. In the UK we have 48 clubs, stretching from Cornwall to Glasgow as well as special interest groups such as Proud Lilywhites, for our LGBT+ supporters, SpursAbility, for our disabled fans and Armed Forces Spurs for serving and former members of the British Armed Forces.
