Mauricio Pochettino spoke positively about Heung-Min Son’s potential return to action against Watford on Wednesday night.

The South Korea star missed our last three matches against Fulham, Chelsea in the Carabao Cup and Palace in the FA Cup as he represented his country in the Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

Sonny flew back into London at the weekend after South Korea bowed out at the quarter-final stage of the tournament against Qatar on Friday.

I’m very optimistic because today he showed very good energy in the training session

Speaking after training on Tuesday, Mauricio told us: “It was a tough period for Sonny, he was so disappointed (after losing against Qatar) and felt empty on the physical side but now he’s happy, he’s recovered his energy and he’ll help the team on Wednesday.

“A few days rest was good for him and for sure, he’ll be ready.

“We are going to decide if he’s going to play from the beginning or maybe on the bench but I’m very optimistic because today he showed very good energy in the training session.”
