Mauricio Pochettino is proud to see us continuing to thrive in all four competitions as we approach our 15th game in just 51 days.
Manchester United’s visit to Wembley on Sunday brings to an end an unrelenting run of two games a week which began at the end of the last international break in mid-November.
During that time we’ve hauled ourselves into the last 16 of the Champions League with an impressive draw in Barcelona, advanced in the FA Cup in dominant fashion, made it through to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup where we’ve since established a one-goal lead over Chelsea ahead of the second leg later this month and continued to push on at the top end of the Premier League table, where we’re six points off leaders Liverpool ahead of the weekend’s action.
It’s true that it’s a massive responsibility and so tough to manage everything but that is our idea, to try to win every single game.
With a rare clear midweek to come after United, Mauricio says the number of games is only a by-product of our progress on the pitch.
“It’s so important for the club to be involved in the four competitions,” he said. “It’s true that it’s a massive responsibility and so tough to manage everything but that is our idea, to try to win every single game in any competition.
“It’s so important for the club to be involved.
“We have had a lot of games but I am so pleased and I am so proud because the effort that everyone has been putting in is amazing.
“We cannot thank them enough because the effort is massive with the mentality and the attitude. The players and the staff are doing a fantastic job and I feel so proud.”
