Mauricio proud of players

Mauricio Pochettino is feeling proud of the players as we return to action this weekend sitting third in the Premier League.

The character of the squad has been underlined by late wins in our last three Premier League matches against Fulham, Watford and Newcastle. In all three, we found decisive goals with 80-plus minutes on the clock.

That trio of wins took our current run to 12 in our last 15 and 19 out of 25 so far this term. At 57 points, we’re four points better off than our previous best mark of 53 (2011/12) at this stage of a Premier League season.

Leicester City are next up at Wembley on Sunday (1.30pm).

Mauricio said: “We feel so proud and with all the circumstances the team is doing fantastically, the performance of the squad is unbelievable.

“Football is a collective sport and we are showing great character, personality and very good quality, fighting against big sides and being in a position that’s very close to the top.

“We hope to keep going in the same direction, trying to get the best results to try to be competitive and at the end, to fight for big things.”

As always, the message from the manager is to take things one step at a time. “Yes, it’s game by game, the same mindset... football is step by step.”
