Ryan Sessegnon is clearly his own biggest critic.
Rather than settling for starting his second game in three days, the young wide man stated he wanted more from himself after our 2-2 draw at Norwich on Saturday.
Ryan, 19, began wide of the four in a 3-4-3 system at Carrow Road before switching to left-back in a 4-2-3-1 as Jose Mourinho made changes for the second half with us trailing 1-0 at the break.
He saw plenty of the ball as we dominated the second half, levelled through Christian Eriksen, frustratingly scored an own goal for 1-2 soon after, levelled again via Harry Kane’s penalty and pushed for the winner, but it wasn’t to be.
I’ve still got a lot to deliver to this team and step by step, with more games, fitness, I’ll get there
“I was okay,” was Ryan’s honest assessment. “I’ve still got a lot to deliver to this team and step by step, with more games, fitness, I’ll get there. I just want to get forward and get more crosses into the box. In the last two games I haven’t put decent, threatening crosses in, so that’s something I’ll be working on for the next game.”
As for the Norwich outcome, Ryan added: “I think from our side it’s disappointing. We came here with a chance to get three points and push ourselves further up the league, and you can see it’s a chance wasted.
“Recently we’ve been conceding the first goal too much and having to come back, so we need to start sharper in the first half of games.
“At 1-1 we all believed we could go on and win the game and it’s unfortunate with the own goal we were pegged back again. Harry scored again for 2-2 and from there we thought we could push for the winner, but it wasn’t to be.”
