The Club’s Global Principal Partner, AIA, had a very successful night at the 2019 Sports Industry Awards Asia, which took place in Manila last Tuesday evening.
AIA Indonesia were the first winners, picking up the Gold award for ‘Best Sports CSR Initiative of the Year’ for their highly successful ‘AIA Soccer for the Nation’ campaign. This campaign was launched in 2018 with AIA Global Ambassador David Beckham and Indonesian Youth Affairs and Sports Minister, Imam Nahrawi.
As part of the initiative, AIA donated 10,000 balls across various towns in Indonesia and this was supported by Tottenham Hotspur’s Global Football Development coaches, who led a series of coaching sessions for a number of talented youngsters.
In total, the programme provided opportunities to 2,830 youth players and 100 coaches to improve their skills and capabilities via coaching clinics in 12 cities.
Later in the evening, AIA China took home the Bronze award for ‘Best Brand Activation of the Year’ for their activity around the Club’s tour to Shanghai in July. The Club took part in a range of activities to celebrate AIA’s Centennial year, which culminated in the extension of our successful partnership. One of the highlights saw Harry Kane, Dele and Erik Lamela take on 100 kids in a very competitive match which ended in a draw!
To cap off the evening, Heung-Min Son was awarded Silver in the ‘Best Asian Sportsman of the Year’ category, narrowly missing out on Gold to Manny Pacquiao.
