Few fans will forget the sight of a teary-eyed Mauricio Pochettino on the pitch at the Lane’s Finale, taking in a moment of history.

The emotions were flowing again when he was introduced and interviewed at half-time during the first Test Event at our new stadium on 24 March.

How will he cope when he returns home with the first team alongside 62,000 fans for the historic first Premier League match against Palace on Wednesday night?

“I cannot guess because I am so emotional and romantic... maybe I’ll cry again,” he said, talking to Spurs TV from the West Stand on Tuesday afternoon, looking out into that magnificent stadium bowl.

“It’s such an important time in the history of the Club. It’s going to be fantastic again to feel at home and for all the people - the chairman, the staff and for the players - it’s going to be a special moment.

This is our home and the feeling is amazing. It’s impossible to describe it with words.

Mauricio Pochettino

“It’s difficult to guess how you are going to react but, knowing me, what happened at the first Test Event, I was so emotional... I can only say I’m a lucky man to be a part of the history of this club, a massive club, massive foundation, fans, everything is massive.

“This is our home and the feeling is amazing. It’s impossible to describe it with words. I think it’s going to make us stronger and playing in our stadium - one of the best in the world - is going to be decisive for this season and for the future of the Club if we want to touch the glory.

“I can only say ‘thank you’ because to be at this moment at the Club is a moment to be grateful.”
