Mauricio Pochettino reported that both Mousa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen picked up injuries after they were withdrawn at half-time during Saturday's win at Huddersfield.

Jan, who needed treatment during the first half, made it to the break but departed with a hamstring injury while Mousa picked up a quad muscle problem. Victor Wanyama and Harry Winks came into the action and helped see us home 2-0 in the second half.

That double blow came after Dele was sidelined ahead of the game with a hamstring injury.

We need to assess Dele in the next few days to see when it's possible for him to come back

Speaking at the John Smith's Stadium, Mauricio told us: "We need to assess Jan and Mousa in the next few days. We’ll see what happens. It will be difficult for Wednesday but of course, I repeat again, for me it’s always about the squad and the team and I congratulate both Victor and Harry, they were fantastic in 45 minutes."

As for Dele, Mauricio added: "It's the same problem he had for the national team against Spain at Wembley. Now we need to assess him in the next few days to see when it's possible for him to come back.

"We tried to manage it, he didn't play too much against Brighton and against Watford at the end he felt the problem again and now we need to help him to be back as soon as possible."
