Davinson Sanchez can’t wait for tonight’s Premier League encounter with Manchester City.
We are currently on a run of four straight league wins, a sequence which has helped us enjoy our best ever start to a Premier League season.
Powerful and athletic defender Davinson admits he is looking forward to the test of facing the reigning champions and believes our preparation for the game will be crucial.
“I’m excited for it as we will be playing one of the best teams in the league,” our number six said.
“I think the most important thing ahead of the game is how we feel, how we prepare for the game. We have to be ready to compete and to try to get the three points to keep fighting near the top.”
The game will be a chance for us to bounce back from last Wednesday’s Champions League draw with PSV Eindhoven and Davinson feels our character will be vital to doing just that.
I will keep fighting for the team because we have a great squad here and great staff to help us to learn and improve our game.
“It’s not always about how well we’re playing but the character within the squad,” the Colombian international said. “We were unlucky with the result against PSV because I thought we played well but we just have to keep going and keep looking forward.”
In starting our last Premier League match, the 1-0 win over West Ham United, Davinson reached his half-century of appearances in a Spurs shirt. His 50th game for the Club arrived in a run of six consecutive starts – a series he feels he is benefitting from.
“I feel very good at the moment,” he said. “I’m feeling confident and I’m looking forward. I will keep fighting for the team because we have a great squad here and great staff to help us to learn and improve our game.
“Every game we have to be ready to win and show our best to help our team-mates. We will certainly give our all tonight.”
