Ben Davies insists only three victories from our remaining three Champions League group stage matches will do if we are to qualify the knockout stages.

We go into tomorrow’s match against PSV Eindhoven (8pm UK) locked alongside the Dutch outfit on a single point and five adrift of second-placed Inter but our full-back remains confident that we can pull off the three wins we require.

“We know what we have to do if we want to progress in this group and that’s win all of the games that we have coming up,” said Ben at the pre-match press conference. “That’s our mindset. That’s been our mindset since the start but it hasn’t gone the way we’d have wanted. But that’s what we have to do from now on.”

Ben insists we have been on the verge on getting the results our performances have merited and can still progress from the section by being more decisive at both ends of the pitch.

We led late on against both Inter and PSV only to end with a single point from our first two Group B games.

“In those games, we wanted to close them out and pick up the three points,” he said. “But that happens in football sometimes. It’s obviously disappointing but something we have to learn from and try and make it back in the next few games.

“Football is a game of ups and downs. Anything can change in any moment and in those games we wanted to hold on or get that extra goal to kill the game but it didn’t happen. That’s football. Sometimes it’s hard to put your finger on exactly what goes wrong.”

On our day, we know we can beat anybody... we’re all ready for the game and feeling fresh

Our next two group games are at Wembley Stadium and Ben believes we can recapture the form we showed there against the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid in this competition last season, as well as coping with the physical demands of our sixth game in 18 days.

“Those are games we can look back at and take some confidence from. On our day, we know we can beat anybody. We feel fine and we’re being managed every time there are a couple of days in between games. We’re all ready for the game and feeling fresh.”
