To celebrate AIA Thailand's 80th anniversary, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club and AIA, the Club’s Global Principal Partner, organised a coaching clinic for underprivileged children in Bangkok, Thailand which was attended by special guest David Beckham, AIA’s Global Ambassador.
Danny Mitchell, one of the Club’s Global Football Development coaches, delivered a coaching session for 300 children aged between 8 and 12 which was designed to improve speed, passing, receiving and accuracy skills. He was supported by local football coaches, players from Thailand’s national team and Thai celebrities.
Former England captain Beckham, who trained with the Club in 2011, met youngsters, offered them words of advice and encouragement and spoke to them about the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.
The event was organised as part of the Club’s groundbreaking football coaching programme which is delivered in partnership with AIA across Asia. Two members of our Global Football Development coaching team are based permanently in the region to work with players of all levels, nurturing local talent and promoting AIA’s initiative to encourage healthier, longer, better lives. To date, our coaches have engaged 28,000 participants in the region.
Danny Mitchell said: “It was brilliant to see so many children having a go at football and enjoying the game. It was a pleasure having David Beckham there to help inspire the children, offer them some words of advice and help educate them about the importance of leading a healthier lifestyle.”
