Mauricio Pochettino has spoken positively about Harry Winks’ progress after injury.
The all-action midfielder, 22, has worked hard on his rehabilitation from an ankle problem and has returned to full training with the squad.
‘Winksy’ enjoyed a superb breakthrough season in 2016/17 and followed that up with some eye-catching performances in the first few months of last season, including memorable displays against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. Unfortunately, he’s been sidelined since February.
It’s very good news that he can cope with the demand of every single training session
Speaking after training on Thursday, Mauricio reported: “Harry is doing well and last week he was involved with the first team in normal training sessions.
“We need to assess him tomorrow (Friday) but it’s very good news that he can cope with the demand of every single training session.
“That is a very good signal for him and for us that he’ll be fit as soon as possible and available to help the team. That is most important.”
Asked if he might be in the squad to face Fulham on Saturday, Mauricio added: “We’ll see, we’ll assess all the players and take the best decision for the team.”
